Look forward to your comment/s... although I'm a bit gutted the interview didn't go in the more technical/research direction I had prepared for.... maybe next time.

Hi, Martin. I've just finished listening to your segment of the radio show. Before I give my impressions, I have to point out that podcasts are not my preferred method of attaining info for a number of reasons: they irritate the hell out of me and I tend to lose concentration. I say that because it may colour what I have to say next!

First of all I felt that most of what you - and the host - had to say were in general agreement with my own thoughts on the topic(s). In that sense, I suppose, you were 'preaching to the choir'! However, I hope you will take that as a positive.

Next (and this is where my bias against this format comes in) the host, in common with most Americans, had an annoying surplus of 'personality' - and it was LOUD! I did not like the way he would 'butt in' before you had completed a sentence or made your point and talk (almost shout) over you! Then you have the frequent 'commercial breaks' stemming the flow just as it was getting interesting.

It also annoyed me slightly that he was imposing the American experience on the UK - particularly about non-pastured red meat. CAFO is pretty much an American phenomenon while a lot of the meat available in the UK is at least partly pastured. We also do not use antibiotics in livestock in the same way they do in America. So while it is arguable that fully grass-fed meat might be the best choice I don't think people here should feel excluded from including more meat in their diet because they can only afford to buy non-grass-fed meat at the local supermarket or high street butcher.

Having said that, I hope you do get the chance to do this again and cover the topics from the technical/research angle. At the very least, this should have increased your exposure/enhanced your profile leading to even more people listening to your take on diet and nutrition - and God knows we need more qualified people who have assimilated the material required to attain their qualifications with a critical eye and are willing bust some of the long-held dietary myths rather than continue to promote them!

It would be really cool if this did lead to a TV spot. Have you ever considered doing podcasts/video-casts of your own that you can post up on your own site? I'm sure you could find some interesting and informative people to join you in such an endeavour right here in the UK.

I went into the show knowing that most of what I said would be 'already known' by the listeners... which is why I had prepared some more interesting observations of my own... the problem was, the questions didn't go in the direction I had hoped at all.

haha. yes, I had been forewarned that he would do this fortunately so it didn't put me off too much but it was a bit weird sitting in silence as he talk about what I had just talked about or was just about to.

We can totally agree here. I do not believe that eating red meat from the supermarket is going to be as bad as someone eating bread, pastries and junk food from the supermarket which is almost what he was saying! Yes there is 'optimal' but its back to fact that people can get GREAT results eating meat from the supermarket and are much better off than they were before when they were limiting protein and fat in preference for procesed, low fat, high sugar foods.

Carl has said I can go back on whenever I like but at the moment its not a priority... I can see I got a lot of exposure from the show through my website analytics so that is one positive. With regards to the TV stuff... I just can't see it happening without me relenting some of my anti government/coporate stand points... I'd like to get well known enough that I simply couldn't be ignored but I think I'm looking at decades of continued effort for that to ever happen.

Video/Podcasts is something that has come to mind but I haven't given it much thought due to a lack of time and not being able to see a clear return on the project, if that makes sense?

    Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

I can see that would certainly be the case for most mainstream TV channels. I don't know whether there are any 'alternative' TV channels still in operation (there were a couple that broadcast on satellite and cable) who would be more accommodating to an anti-establishment stance but then they probably have a limited public profile and viewer base - plus I assume your goal is to get your message out to as many people as possible who are not already aware of/sympathetic to the subject matter and people who tend to tune into these 'alternative' channels are usually already clued up on it to some extent.

Yes, that makes sense. To be done even half-way decently I imagine it takes quite a bit of time, money and expertise.
