Hi, I'm new to this forum, however I've dabbled with various healthy lifestyle techniques before, but im untested in the caveman diet, but I don't really know a great deal about it. I first heard of it from 9st commonwealth champion Carl frampton, who is in very good shape. Does anyone know about the diet in detail or have any good links or literature on the diet. Cheers duggie !

As part of his preparations, Tiger’s Bay native Frampton has been enjoying the unconventional ‘Caveman diet’.
“Barry McGuigan’s son Shane has me on a caveman diet - steak and eggs for breakfast, then nuts and berries for snacks - lots of fruit - anything that a caveman would have eaten,” he said.
“I am eating peanut butter as well but I don’t think a caveman would have had that.”
Because of the new regime, Frampton says his weight and fitness have never been better.
“After training today I was 8st 12lb - just two pounds out with a week to go. I did 14 rounds of non-stop punching yesterday - bags, pads and sparring so I am well able to go the ten rounds at a high intensity.”

Aka Paleolithic diet... I'm kind of new to it too, but i've been eating like a caveman for almost a week and i'm really loving it! I feel better as a whole, have more energy and i feel good knowing i'm not putting c**p into my body.
I've never been a big carb eater so i'm finding it easy, however, it does work out a little more pricey than what you might normally spend on food - especially if you go for the organic options.
Typically you'd eat meat/eggs for breakfast, meat/eggs+veg for lunch, and the same for dinner, and you'd snack on 'natural' nuts/seeds and berries or fruit. If you're aiming for weight-loss you'd avoid most fruits because of the amounts of fructose in fruit. And you wash all this down with about 2L of water a day (or herbal tea).
In my opinion everyone should try the caveman diet at least once in their life. I personally think i'll be on it forever now![]()
I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable members will provide you with some good links!
Thank you

This is right, but you can eat them in the morning. People tend to avoid them because they cause an insulin spike which causes you to put on fat. In the morning after waking your blood glucose levels are low so it the insulin response won't be as high as say the afternoon. If you are going to avoid them entirely make sure you are getting enough vitamins, maybe take a multi vit.

There are plenty of threads relating to the palaeolithic diet on the forum if you do a search. Also Google 'caveman diet', 'palaeolithic diet' or 'stone age diet' and you will get plenty of hits.
Basically a caveman or palaeolithic diet is one that tries to eliminate the types of foods that would not have been available to our stone age ancestors and emphasises those types of foods that would have been preferentially eaten. This is not about re-enactment - we cannot fully know what foods were available and eaten (though there is much evidence that gives us a very good idea) and much of what would have been eaten then is not available now (due to extinction or evolution).
The main points, which most people are agreed upon, is that any foods not widely available until the dawn of the agricultural revolution (~10,000 years ago), such as cereal grains and legumes or any food products made from them, should be eliminated from the diet. Others also say that all dairy produce should be eliminated. That leaves you with any meat, poultry, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds*, some fruits** & vegetables. Obviously it goes without saying that most, if not all, processed/packaged or junk foods and refined sugar are avoided.
* Not seed/vegetable oils. Extra virgin olive oil is allowed.
**Today's fruits are probably among the most hybridised and manipulated foods on the planet, so most 'paleo dieters' tend to stick with berries.

caveman diet a? so that means eating raw meat, you cant eat eggs because cavemen diddnt eat them, most of the berries would of been poisonus, cavemen may of canobolised each other, most of the meat would of been derived from wolly mammoths (cant rember the last time i was able to buy wolly mammoth from tesco), and nothing would of tasted good because they diddnt have much in the way of seasoning. so basicly the only thing avalible to you from the cavemans diet is twigs and leaves. ermmmmmmmm not for me but if thats your thing then bon appitete!
