just thought i'd offer this up to elicit some enlightened opinions and to start some

i downloaded a pdf called The cut diet/ game over diet.

now what they recommend is that you dont adopt the usual lumping of either carbs and proteins together in a meal, or a protein and fat meal but go for a rather unorthodox approach of:

    carbs and fats
    proteins

and really dont encourage carb/protein meals at all.

the rationale behind it sounds quite solid.

    anyone tried this?

What is the rationale behind it exactly?

With carbs and fat, especially medium high gi carbs it's a good way of putting on fat.
You should eat protein with every meal, even if it makes a small amount.
On this diet things like meat are ruled out!

not really- it does allow you to have meat, but it seems as with anything american , they throw weird food into it- tilapia (fish) WTF?
i think the ethos is to keep the tank topped up and to keep insulemic surges down (the rationale behind post workout supps is the combo of protein and carbs elicits a greater insulin response than stand alone components) and eating food sources of a fast motility.

    it is tremendously inconvenient though.

No way does that sound good. High carb and fat together is just asking for trouble. The carbs will get insulin up and the fats will just be stored.

that has always been the school of thought, i am in no way disagreeing.
as said it seems a very unorthodox approach, and opened it up to the forum to ascertain viewpoints and test credence.

Sounds like a nother 'be radical to get sales' type diet. ALways interesting to hear about though as when trying to rationalise it, interesting viewpoints come about. Was it a free DL Jules?

Amazingly enough it is a free-to-download 155 page pdf e-book! the link is:
    http://www.cutdiet.com/gameover_vol2.pdf

Just had a quick scan of the opening chapters...seems well presented! I've saved a copy and will scrutinize it at my leisure!

it sure was martin- it can be obtained through bodybuilding.com, scivation, cutdiet.com or strengthandscience.com.

without a doubt there is blatant pimping of the company's products, but some of the people are pretty well known industry bods and natural bodybuilders- str8flexed aka layne norton.

as said i was just throwing it open for discussion and to elucidate opinions, no harm in reading if it is free :-)

I've recently read some articles about the late 'iron guru' Vince Gironda. Apparently he had a giant IQ [as well as a giant ego, according to some] and though he did not have any formal qualifications, did an enormous amount of study on subjects like physiology, nutrition and biochemistry. He was scathing about the anti-cholesterol hype and often directed his pupils to down copious amounts of raw whole eggs blended with heavy cream! He insisted that in order for the body to properly digest and utilise proteins they absolutely MUST be consumed with plenty of fats!
