Have a look at this site, there's no such thing as bad cholestrol.

That's true for the white but not, I think, for the yolk - it's better raw [but good cooked too - see below]!

I suppose that is true...if you cook them in the shell there is less chance of oxidation.

But that is being anal about it!

I have 6 whole boiled eggs when im feeling peckish. Only thing i hate it peeling the shells off them. Gotta wait until they have cooled first.

I have some tips for you on that score:

When eggs have finished boiling carefully drain off hot water from pan and refill with cold from the tap. Leave eggs to stand for a short while [5-10 mins] then remove eggs from cold water and blot dry. Tap eggs all over to crack the shell [crazed] and roll egg gently between the palms to loosen shell. Pick away shell from the blunt end first...there is a natural air space or hollow here which makes it easier to get your finger between the shell and the egg. Continue to peel away the shell, which should largely remain attached to the membrane which lines it, like you would peel an orange!

In my opinion, eggs are a fantastic protein source.

    Here are some insights...

    Whole Eggs vs Egg Whites

My Opinion: Egg Whites for Me

In my personal experience, I used to find eating whole eggs made my skin and scalp very dry, red and itchy. Since switching to egg whites only I have had no troubles at all. In fact, my skin looks better than ever.

    Egg Yolk Disposal

I dispose of the egg yolks into 5-6 layers of paper towels inside a bowl. I use the "2 halfs of the egg-shell" method to separate the whites from the yolks. It only takes a few minutes. I then "tie up" the paper-towels, and dump them in the bin. If I put them down the sink, they tend to block it. I feel this has something to do with the the combination of the fatty egg yolks and the coldness of the area in Scotland where I live.

    Fryed, Scrambled or Boiled?

I recommend scrambled eggs as the finest way to eat egg whites. Personally, I like to whisk-up the egg whites in a bowl, then scramble the eggs in a pot. You can heat them for only a short time so they are really light and fluffy -- in my view, this makes them a "super light" meal that you can eat many times without getting that tired/bloated feeling.

When scrambling, you can add a small amount of natural butter to give your body some useful fat compounds. In my experience, the fatty/oily butter can be used by the body for various bits and pieces (I believe, in particular, that the joints and the hair see benefits).

    General Bonuses of Eating Eggs

For me, the most obvious benefits of using eggs are as follows:

    * They can be made quickly and easily. In as little as 2-3 minutes to get them on a plate if you hurry.
    * If you shop wisely, eggs are also very cost-efficient. I buy 2-3 bulk packs of 30 eggs at a time to keep shopping trips down.
    * I feel that there are a range of beneficial fatty acids and aminos in eggs that are easily assimilated by the body. In particular, I believe that these substances are good for the skin and the hair.

Hope some of you find that useful...

All the fats in an egg are contained in the yolk - the bit you throw away!
The yolk also contains about 50% of the protein of the whole egg!

USDA Dietary Database for Windows gives protein content as 2.7g [yolk] vs. 3.6g [white] for a large whole fresh egg. That's 43% of the protein content of a whole egg that gets thrown in the bin! Not to mention important fatty acids, vitamins and minerals!

Good spot. For those interested, go here: http://www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=7783
    Search for "egg".
    Select page 2 of results.

It's then possible to compare nutrients over the following entries:

"Egg, white only, raw" vs. "Egg, yolk only, raw"

    or

"Egg, white only, cooked" vs. "Egg, yolk only, cooked"

I'm still satisfied with the way I do it however -- it seems to work for me...
