Spud, i use 'james white' organic beetroot juice, i get it from sainsburys.
It's £2.43 for 750ml and is delicious!
It's 90% beetroot juice (not from concentrate) 10% apple juice.

CoN, good idea!
The supplements i use are general sports supplements to improve performance, the zinc and magnesium and taurine keep me relaxed and give better recovery and sleep and the inositol i find is brilliant pre workout, B vits are just general to help with enzymes etc.
My supplement regime isn't strict and i'm working things in as i need them.

thanks for starting the thread LH...I should've read from the start!
I'll give that juice a go too RC cheers!
It's concentrated tomato paste that comes in jars from sainsbury, organic of course.
All of the reasons you ask.
-I love the taste of it and it goes well in lots of recipes!
-Provides a good source of potassium for me which is required as i have large doses of other electrolyte minerals.
-Lycopene, i'm getting a hell of a lot, i'll cut back if i start turning orange.
I reckon tomato paste is a better dietary inclusion than fresh or tinned tomatoes because processing increases lycopene availability and reduces alkaloid toxicity and also removes the chance of chewing tomato seeds which are problematic in large amounts (generally ok if you don't chew them, they pass through you)
At 79p for a 312g jar it's good economy too compared to fresh organic tomatoes.

I thought the same when looking at the packaging but corn syrup (unless it states HFCS) is mostly glucoseeven if it was HFCS i can't say i'm bothered as part of the rest of my diet, the fact i had just burnt about 800 calories, largely depleted my liver glycogen (which is key to fructose health effects) and the fact i'm going to eat 3 of those bars in my lifetime.Quote
Corn syrup is a syrup, made using cornstarch as a feedstock, and composed mainly of glucose. A series of two enzymatic reactions are used to convert the corn starch to corn syrup. Its major uses in commercially-prepared foods are as a thickener, sweetener, and for its moisture-retaining (humectant) properties which keep foods moist and help to maintain freshness.
HFCS 50 is no worse than sugar. people pick up on it as a 'bad' ingredient but really it's the large consumption of HFCS such as fizzy drinks that is the problem.
Even if i ate one of those bars a day and it contained a few grams of HFCS it wouldn't really effect my health whatsoever.
HFCS is one of those things i find people 'polarise' as soon as they realise it's 'bad in large amounts' they cut every gram out of their diet.

I noticed this entry for 18/02/08:
Deadlifts 3x8x100g.
"I found on the first set i nearly passed out, had tunnel vision and had to lean against the back of my car"
Hardcore!
HD.
"No, I seek no battle, I assure you truly:
Those about me in this hall are but beardless children.
If I were locked in my armor on a great horse,
No one here could match me with their feeble powers."
Lol it was quite bad.
I train hard and fast, little rest and my deadlifts are bang bang bang, set of 8 is over in about 20 seconds, i think i might have forgotten to breath as well during the first set which was fast.
The second i stood up after the last set my vision started fading towards the centre, good thing my car is a lift back type so i would have slumped on it, if it was a hatchback i would have hit the deck had i passed out.

Keep up the intensity, RC. I've always been inspired by the legendary training of the great runner, Emil Zatopek.
"Zatopek's approach was anything but (conventional). Interval training appealed to him because he found it infinitely variable. He tried hundreds of different combinations of repeats, distances and speeds before he settled on the ones that best suited him. He was willing to experiment with all manner of training. He would run through knee-deep snow in his army boots, he would sprint from telephone pole to telephone pole holding his breath, he would run with his wife, Dana on his shoulders (which resulted in his suffering a hernia condition)!"
HD.
