Mmmm. Depends how heavy she is really - I assume she'll be over 17st ish so I'm guessing anything beyond walking may be difficult for her.

It may be that you need to get her to move for short periods at a time - walks, x-trainer, bike etc. Someone who is massively obeses will struggle to do much more as a complete beginner.

Despite all this, she may be fine with movements and co-ordination etc and if she is I'd mix in some BW squats and some resistance work for a small part at least.

I'd consider a circuit style workout too - could be better if there are any BP problems etc - and helps stop the boredom of SSCV.

    Thanks dude

Yeh I'm guessing she is around the 17st mark, I was thinking of a circuit type routine which would include, BW squats, step ups, DB curls, overhead barbell press, and lunges. If she can't squat or lunge then so be it, will have to come up with something else.

What exercise could I have her do to work her core? I'm guessing the plank might be a no no?

Generally an untrained cliet wants to "feel the burn" especially the ladies. the best thing you can do to retain the client is give them what they want but over time explain that "feeling the burn" isnt always the best way to changing the body. Include alot of Dumbbell/kettlebell work with the larger clients. DO NOT have her on her back!this is one of the oldest forms of defeat or overpowerment. If you are doing chest exercises I recommend having her use cables and upright chest presses to begin with. you want to make her feel good but at the same time push her! get her to have a sweat on (which shouldnt be hard with a larger lady) but the last thing you want is to kill her.
Resilience should be shown in the face of adversity at all times with a grin on the face and with fists clenched.
