So my mum asked me to make a training program for her to do at home. She refuses to go to the gym for some reason so im stuck getting her to use the limited stuff i have here. I have a barbell and a fair few plates lingering around. Weighted vest, some DB handles and weights. Good enough for a very basic routine.

This is what ive come up with:

    Workout A:

    Squat 5 x 5
    Floor press 5 x 5
    Dips 5 x 5
    Spread eagle situps 5 x 5

Squat wise ill either have her use the weighted vest or goblet squats/front squats. I taught her the technique and she can do good bw ATG squats now. Bit shakey so i think the first week or two keep on bw.

    Workout B:

    Squat 5 x 5
    Overhead press 5x5
    Deadlift 1 x 5
    Ab work 5 x 5

The biggest problem here is her diet. Its pretty poor and she refuses to even question it. At the moment im humouring her and im going to try and convince her somehow.

Look good? Cant really go wrong with a stronglifts template.

You're a good guy for humouring her, myself I'd tell my mum there's no point unless the diet's fixed but I'm a very all or nothing kind of guy lol.

Do you not have a pull/chin-up bar at home at all? Figure workout A could do with one or the either, but I do feel a bit out of shape (no pun intended) when it comes to looking at routines now lol. I'm guessing being restricted to the house made you choose dips instead of another exercise?

yeh i was forced to put dips in place of power cleans. Shes not doing power cleans anytime soon! Havent got a chin up bar/pullup bar so very limited to what she can do. I tried to get her to do a pushup but she cant do those hence the floor presses. I thought dips are always a good addition to most training programs.

Oh I'd agree with the dips, I just thought to keep in line with the SL theme to do pull/chins. It seems pretty solid, but where's the 2 hours cardio?

Would she listen to 'experts' over you on the diet thing? If you watched one of those crappy diet shows (Fat families, biggest loser etc) with her & make it think it was her idea to try something different?
My mates mum is the same, she works out everyday (a decent workout for a 63 year old), but refuses to stop eating processed ready meals/junk so can't understand why she's not losing weight!! ARGH!!

    What cardio does she do?
