The only way she is going to lose weight is if she really wants to. Im sure she knows the sweets and fizzy drinks have to go.
At the end of the day you can only advise and support her if she doesnt want to do it she wont stick to it. My wife is a little over weight at the moment due to recently having out second child and wants to lose the excess. ive suggested to her what she needs to do and the reason behind it but to be honest shes bone idle and would rather do it her own way Alot of females seem to have the wrong view of lifting weights and think they are going to turn into a huge manly body builder which really isnt going to happen as jag has proved.

    full body workouts
bit of cardio if she fancys it
whole foods diet avoiding the sweet stuff
    will power

she can easily achieve her target if she really wants to do it

    Thamks for the reply.

She really does what to do it and its more a case of support that she needs, like you said she knows what she needs to do and ill be there for her to help her on her to reach her goal. after a few weeks of doing some stuff it should become routine do her.

she has really been trying the last few weeks buy sorting her diet, we just have to work together now to get her doing more activity all in all it will be good and im sure she will be over the moon when she see what all the hard work she puts in is for.

im sure as the weight starts dropping off she wil be easily motivated to stick to the diet etc. With her weight as it is (I dont mean this to sound rude but i cant think of any other way to put it) she should see quite rapid loss quickly. Its when this slows down that people can feel quite demotivated. Going from loosing maybe 2-3lbs a week to struggling to get rid of the last few lbs. It helps to actually find some kind of routine she enjoys or maybe switch exercises out regually to keep her interested.
Personally i think your a brave man. i cant think of anything worse than training with my wife

lol thanks, it will be an experiences, once she get the hang of it she should be able to get in the gym and know what to do. the jogging will be a killer we tried that before and she got bent out of shape with me going a long side her we will cross that bridge again when we come to it.

i look forward to starting in the next 3 weeks..

Have you considered buying the new rules of lifting for women by Alwyn Cosgrove? Sometimes even though friends and family know that our advice is good, they don't always want to take it. But i read this book recently as a coach to see what kind of message it was giving to women who wanted to get in shape, and on the whole it is pretty good. It talks about myths associated with lifting etc, and breaks down nutrition into understandble terms and even has some recipes. Theres a six month lifting plan which includes some cardio, and even if you didn't want to follow the plan i think its still an educational and motivating read for someone who wants to get in shape.

Also, i think its really good that you're giving your support because its always good to have someone you know helping you. But for beginners, in the early stages its really important that you give them something that they want to do, and feel reasonably good at, otherwise the motivation can drop. So if your partner wanted to go a dance class for example, i'd really encourage it if i thought they would enjoy it, even if its not lifting, something is better than nothing! Also, if shes finding jogging hard, or painful, maybe you should consider some intervals on the bike, which have less impact on the body but still build an aerobic base.

I hope your partner reaches her goals, and i really admire your support for her!
