Short back story, trained in Taekwondo for about 2 years up till last december, went on an extended hiatus cause the training became rubbish. Been going to the gym fairly regular, mainly wieght training though.Training has started back again and I'm attending 2 nights a week. However there is a tournament coming up 10+11th May. Now was fitness was never spectaculr before this and I haven't really had a chance to test it since starting back. Do you think its possible to get up to speed again in that short a space of time. If I enter I should get about 3 fights 2min each and a final of 2 round, if I make it that far . Am i being a little over optimistic about competing since I haven't trained in a while and prob won't get much sparring practive in? I'm well able to fight having done kickboxing asweel a few years ago but I don't want to look like a fool at the competition with lads that have been training consistintly over the last while.
    Any thoughts ?

should be able to get it back up to speed. will be hard though.

which tkd you do? ITF style or WTF? each has different requirements. both are explosive which you have to be to get the point. a lot of the timein WTF is just bouncing around (it is full contact so no one wants to charge in with a mistimed attack). ITF has more action and the pace varies.

skip rope every other day working you way up to 30mins by end of april, on non skipping days, drill work, combinations, evasive manuevers etc.

it can be done, you just have to train more often, harder and eat and rest well.

Not sure if it falls under ITF or WTF, its a AIMAA competition. It will be continuous sparring. Was thinking of upping the skipping, but I'm already after loosing weight in the last while as it is and don't want to get any skinnier. Guess I'll have to up the calories and just stick with it.
Competition is in Scotland for anyone interested.

yeah it'll be ITF styled then, GM Cho used to be in the ITF (just background info).

yeah up the calories as you'll be training more. WUMA have a tournament on that day. its their europeans championships. the wuma comp is a open styles, kinda like WAKO and WKA.
