I'm moving to a new house soon.

There is a place nearby which teaches Krav Maga. It's something i've always thought of as pretty cool and i
    wouldn't mind getting into it.

Whats the consensus on here about Krav Maga? I've always been interested in self-defence.

It appears on their website that there is progression from beginner to master.

I would always go for Russian Systema.

Take a good look at this: Systema

I would say it depends on what you want to get out of martial arts and I'd use that word loosely when taking about Krav Maga. Don't get me wrong, it's efficient and it gets the job done but as far as I know (and I should stress I've never practised Krav Maga) it's a set of systems rather than a martial art. Personally, I'd rather practise some good striking or good grappling like Muay Thai, Kickboxing or Ju Jitsu. You'll no doubt get a far better workout, be able to defend yourself adequately and have more fun. People also profess to learn patience, focus, tenacity and sometimes even a new level of spirituality from the martial arts that I'm sure you wouldn't get from Krav Maga.

That being said, I'm always one for trying new things and purely on the basis of having fun and growing as a person, there can't be any harm in trying it (excuse the pun).

Let us know how you get on.

I would go for it. I would most certainly join a class if there was one near me. I went to a Kung Fu class a few times and realised i didn't have the time needed to dedicate myself to getting anywhere near good enougth, seeing as it takes years.
Krav Maga seems to be more of a street fighting thing and like boxing you get stuck in straight away in the classes, so i guess it depends what you are looking for in a martial art. It looks like it would be more useful in real life situations. Apart from the disarming gunmen part, although it might be useful for you, depends on the company you keep
I would be joining you if i could.

I've tried Krav Maga, a 1 day systema workshop, and judo and tae kwondo in my younger years.

Give it a go, but I found the sessions I attended were very haphazard, the instructor just did what he felt like on the day, it seemed very much lacking in structure both in the lessons and the progression. I also used somewhere which took a DD rather than cash per session, I would avoid that if you can until you've tried it for a month and like it. Very over priced for what you got given the number of sessions per week and the extended xmas break they liked to have.

Krav Maga suffers from a lot of "bullshido" instructors... my personal opinion is learn to grapple and strike ... judo and boxing....wrestling and thai...bjj and kockboxing or whatever... In a life or death situation gouging eyes and ripping balls off shouldn't require too much mental arithmatic....
