Sitting Too Much May Be Hazardous to Your Health Weightology Weekly

Common sense dictates that sitting down too much and inactivity is bad for us, but this is quite a sobering thought!

    Get up off that sofa!

I don't know if he is referring to the same study but Charles Washington had a different interpretation on his blog:

I wouldn't read too much into it. Most of those 'increased risks' were relative risks. In absolute terms the percentages would have been much smaller.

Cause and effect are often mislabelled - a draft of air can move a sheet of paper but if you drop a sheet of paper in a still room you create a draft of air! Two cases where the same elements can be both cause and effect.

Look at some of the most lean and muscular animals in the wild and they spend an awful lot of time lounging around doing nothing - it is what Art DeVany characterised as the 'power law'; short bursts of intense activity punctuated by longer periods of rest and relaxation.
