Managed to break my arm (spiral fracture of the humerus ). Been off of any sort of exercise for 4 months.
Hopefully 3rd July I can start weights and rock climbing again albeit slowly.

Previously to this I was doing rock climbing indoors 2-3 times a week (up to English 6a), football once a week and running 1-2 times a week (no supplements) and was feeling pretty good about myself but lost all of that in the 4 months due mainly to alcohol and of course no exercise.

Anyway, 3 weeks ago I started to pick up my running,
4 miles in my lunch break three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
Bikram Yoga on Tuesday evenings which is good for stretching out the damaged muscles, helping get the flexibility back (they sliced my tricep down the middle to get the rod and screws in so lots of muscle damage) and also because there is a lot of balancing it helps work the stability muscles but not under any major pressure which is fine for me and I have noticed a lot of gains from this.

Anyway, I ordered the following to feed my new training regime and also to help lose weight as a sedentary life style only helped me put on a bit.
    1kg of L-Glutamine
10lb of Whey Protein Concentrate 80 [EURO]

Yesterday I started taking Whey protein (two big scoops) twice a day as a mid morning snack and mid afternoon snack mixed with L-Glutamine (1 tea-spoon) in water and when running taking it nearer my sessions. Not sure exactly when to take it as the intensity of my training is no where near most of you guys but don't want to under do it either so possibly up that?
Also on Wellman Vitamin tablets, cod liver oil 410mg once a day and bee pollen tablets 3x a day (supposedly helps to alleviate hay fever and raise energy levels).

Any advice is much appreciated and hello to everyone.

    Hi and welcome

If you are training most days then protein won't hurt. If you're not doing weights then you may not need huge amounts each time, but a steady supply is important to help the muscles repair.

Another trick I heard for hay fever is to eat a tea spon of honey from bees in your locality. They collect the local pollen and so you build a resistance to the trees and plants that actually affect you, and it's great on toast!

I've been reading bits on the site and basically thinking that I should spread the protein out more, maybe take one in the evening as well as mid morning and mid afternoon and spread out the amount I'm taking.
How much would you recommend to take as I'm not doing any weights yet, just running and yoga once a week.

    I'm 25, 85kg and 5'11

Any other recommendations on what to take?

stick to 1g protein per pound of bodyweight, maybe slightly less but this should get u used to things before yo ustart back up on the weights. Have a bit of cottage cheese(200g) before bed as its aslow release protein and will last u the night.

Howdy! Broke your arm arm wrestling?!? Ouch. Reminds me of that arm-wrestling scene in the remake of The Fly ..

I had chronic respiratory problems a few weeks ago from hawfever-induced asthma. I have found a large dose of magnesium in the morning (when it was worst) instantly opened up my airways, and then a few fish oil tabs and a GLA tab 3x / day to keep the respiratory inflamation down.
