Mid 40's and just been medically discharged from the Army after a very brief spell in Afghan. Formerly very fit (300 club territory - militaryfitness.ukgear.com/300-club/ ) and hoping to get back to that kind of fitness again over the next 12 months)

Been using MP for some time but never joined the forums until today. Currently recovering from a few medical problems caused/ aggravated by Army service/ training and hoping to be able to start training again in the next couple of weeks.

Always been interested in healthy eating, exercise and life and go for lean and ripped rather than big and bulky.

Muscle work: Body-weight exercises, circuits and Body-pump (LesMills) has worked really well for me over the years
Fitness: RHR usually around 48 (best I ever recorded was last year at 38). I do a mixture of HIIT, and medium to long (ish) distance runs along with coast path (hill) running

Looking forward to chatting; getting and giving advice on here

Hi there, never heard of the 300 club or RHR. It was BFT and CFT when I was in! I often wonder if my current level of fitness would be acceptance in todays army.

If you can run 1.5 miles in 10 mins 30 or under you will be fine for the infantry. 9.30 or less for Para's or Royal Marines or, to qualify to apply for special forces. 12.30 or less if you're a REMF 300 club is a great benchmark to aim for as it is age graded

Yeah, what a tool. I thought it was a new military acronym. The army runs on acronyms and mnemonics!!

I make make it as a REMF (good acronym!), I will have to give it a shot some time to see if I can still cut it!
