welcome. its a female uprising!!!!! lol, just messing. loads of girls actively post on here and a few are planning to compete very soon- karryann.
Hey Guys,
My name is Vicky, 27 (5ft.7) from Cardiff. Ive been a MP lurker for some time and have used their products over the last year.
Ive been training for the last year starting a 1 day a week in the gym to my current shedule which is
Monday - double Spin
Tueday - rest day
Wednesday AM - 1 Hour lifting. PM - Boxing
Thursday - Aerobics, straight into a Pilates class
Friday - rest day
Saturday - Split training int he gym 1 hour
Sunday - Split training in the gym 1 hour
My diet is pretty tight although could still use some work. Ive lost 5 Stone in the last 12 months and am currently just over 11 stone. The goal is to become lean and ripped with this years goal to get my BF to between 10 and 15%. Im looking to get lean and ripped with Kortney Olson being my idea of the perfect female body.
Ive had to do all of my research on my own, ive not seen another serious body builder at my gym let alone a female using the free weights so its been trial and error and in some ways ive probably learnt more by doing that. I dont currently have dead lifts or any serious squat weights in my routine purely because i have no spotter and there is no racks or olympic disc weights in the gym i use (im looking for a new place to train which is new person friendly but has all the facilities so i can up my game)
I touched on my diet earlier but i know people like to see a sample day for analysis so ill put one below.
8:00am - Impact whey protein shake - 1% milk, 300ml
12:00pm - Lowfat cottage cheese and a chicken breast (no skin) with a small salad.
4:00pm - 2nd Shake
6:00pm - Evening meal - Beef casserole and steamed veggies
If i do have a snack its usually a couple of nuts or a rice cake, generally i dont bother keeping that sorta thing in the house so i dont have it.
I did recently start taking CEE 4grams 30 mins before a work out but after 3 weeks my guts decided it didnt like it so im on a 3 week break before i try again. Loved the results even though the taste is ropey!
Im really looking for any advice on my routine, diet, supplements (pre and post workout) and possibly a little support. I havent met a single person who supports my goals (even at the gym!?) So im hoping to talk with people who are a little less judgemental about girls with muscles![]()

Welcome! Congrats on the phenomenal weight loss so far!
Cheers guys!Would definitely be great to talk to the ladies competing or even read some of their threads. Don't think I'll ever have the confidence to compete but who can say, I love the fact bodybuilding is for any age, if your willing to put the time in then you'll get results. I think the biggest hurdle would be getting the bikini on....long years of being overweight takes its toll on confidence

In terms of deadlifts you could try to do dumbbell deadlifts with as heavy as weight as you can hold with good form, it'll increase your grip strength for when you do make the switch over to barbell deadlifts and might make the transition smoother. With regards to your exercising on the weekend could you post your routine? Is it a push/pull - upper / lower body split? I'm sure the other experienced members will be glad to help you with diet, routine etc!
Lots of people post and get feedback in the training journal section, it's a great place to pop down notes and reminders for what works.
Welcome btw!

Just checked out some videos on dumbbell deadlifts and I'll definitely be adding these to my routine. In terms of my Sat/Sun routine I do add bits and pieces from week to week but I'll generally on Sat do the following
3x10 Bench (35kg sad I know)
3x10 one armed row 15kg
3x10 standing dumbell curls 12.5kg
3x10 military press 15kg
3x10 barbell row 22.5kg
3x10 incline curl 10kg
3x10 dumbbell shrugs 15kg
I'll do all arm machines 3x10 (who'd have guessed? :P) chest fly 100lbs seated row 80lbs. Lat pull down 80lbs. Chest press 100lbs
A routine on the cables using same rep/sets with as heavy as I can manage. Takes about.20 mins but not sure what each exercise is called o_0
Usually finish it up with 20 mins full out on cross trainer.
Sunday.
I generally stick to the various leg machines working to 3x12 as heavy as I can. Sled press, and...um...all the other stuff. I never really thought to look st the names but you get the idea. I also do abs on Sunday. Hanging leg raises. Sit ups and planking. Barbell squats of 25kg. Not my max by any mean but with no rack I don't want to look like a clown getting into position lol
Then finish up with 20 mins cardio.
On Wednesday I do a full body essentially doing all of the above.
Sorry it's not clear on the Sunday routine. I'll make a note of the machine names this week.
It's all stuff I've put together myself so I appreciate it's gonna need a lot of work but im not afraid of hard work and being in the gym is the highlight of my day. Something I hope to.continue through my whole life so any changes, improvements please dont hold back.

Sorry, I've only just seen this!
Hi and welcome, To reach your goals it's a matter of good diet, consistent training and enough rest.
I've gone from a size 24 down to a muscular 10, I'll be competing with BNBF in july, just about to start my comp diet very soon. Feel free to have a nose around my journal, and ask anything you like
It's good to have another girl round here, especially a bodybuilder....
By the way the bikini is still scary for me, the last time I wore one in public was 1984, and it wasn't as teeny as the one I have to wear on stage, lol!
Hehe no worries mate. Awesome work on getting into shape. I've gone from a size 24 to 14 so far and still losing week on week. Im not too worried about my weight so much now but getting the body fat down is this year's goal!
I'll definitely check out your journal. Wheres the Your next.competition being held? Ive wanted to go watch one but they aren't really highly advertised around by me.

This will be my first competition( not the last) I'll be competing at the Alban Arena on 22nd July with BNBF.
The Welsh qualifier is at Dolman Theatre Newport, 8th July 2012
And the other fed(NPA) I may compete with doesn't have a Welsh qualifier, but I think this is the closest-- South-West - Sun July 15th at the Queen's College Theatre, Taunton
Both of those are Natural Body building federations.
Hope that helps, I'll have a look around see if I can find any more for you
That's super helpful, thanks! Newport isn't too far. I'll pencil it in to my work.calendar tomorrow
