    No doubt less BF% in the first - but personally I find 'lean' bulking doesn't work.

    Not to be harsh, but the extra fat gained wasn't really worth the little extra muscle you added, when you come to cut down you'll be back to where you were... Better off being around 10% then bulking up IMO

    I was gonna say something like this too. With that level of bf, would it not be better to cut to a decent level of bf and then bulk from there?

    The issue was a fair amount of unintentional bulk with being away on business for 3 weeks and then 2 weeks off for Christmas basically undid most of 9 months work, certainly from a BF% standpoint

    I am actually impressed with the muscle gain this month - I do like the 5-3-1 better than 5x5 its a bit more varied and seems to get more pump and doms than I ever did with 5x5.
