This is me just over a year ago aged 38, late summer 2008. I weighed 16st 8lbs (104kg).

Suffered from high blood pressure and really bad reflux - had tablets to control.

Started to clean my diet up in Feburary 2009 and started using the gym at work to do a bit of cardio work, treadmill, x trainer and rowing. Refulx stopped in an instance.

July 2009 started to use a few weights, not really following any plan or progress but had lost nearly 2st 7lbs at this point.

Sept 2009 left my job (and gym) so signed up to a high street gym and worked through a routine set by one one of the staff. Again no real plan or progress so gave up with the weights.

Nov 2009 Found MP website and forum.

Dec 2009 doctor measures high blood pressure as normal and records as history of HBP.

Jan 2010 Learnt loads and started on the stronglifts 5x5 in Jan 2010. Reduced carbs in diet to continue fat loss. Weight 87kg.

Mar 2010 8 weeks into the SL 5x5 and progressing well.

    More pictures to follow........

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I will start a journal, Coma. BTW whats the -san?

James - I will put up some progress pics, not looking that good to be honest!

It is a bit embarrasing, as below is a picture of me in 1995, shortly after leaving the infantry. Had done 2 tours of NI where we carried 80kg bergans up hills (coma!).

Left the army and the drinking and eating continued, but the exercise did not. Got a desk job 5 years ago and went down hill from there.

I will be 40 next year and really want to get back to looking somewhere near to this photo with a bit more muscle if I can. Any reason why not?

Looking back I cannot believe I had so little fat!

It is a polite Japanese way to address someone, the closest translation in English is the same as calling someone Mr/Mrs/Miss.
