Agreed. Even my 3-year-old takes a kiddy version of it.

REAL food over shakes though. Equally it's misleading to say "protein builds muscle". Yes, it's essential, but so are fat and carbohydrates.

Moreover, the guy wants to lose fat before building muscle. You sure you're 5'9 dude? You look pretty thin for your weight if that's the case?

I just need to get my diet nailed as i am still confused about carbs and protein etc..

i eat mostly low gi carbs, wholemeal pasta, grainy wholemeal bread , oats, patotoes at dinner

fats i have my Omega 3 tabs , eat fish once a week and occasional peanut butter

protein have chicken / turkey for lunch everyday, along with my shakes

Fish oil, if you find it helpfull take by all means, but whey protein in addition to a good diet (as I posted earlier) at your age with help you grow more than any supplement.

Mixed with water it is low in cals and will make you bigger.

People will disagree with me, but in the old days we didn't have all these fancy supplements but grew by having a high protein intake. It works and it's relatively cheap.

A good diet is essential and additional protein intake by way of shakes will not add fat, but will build mucle - try it for a month and you'll get some better stats I'm sure.

You reckon if I replaced my protein intake from whole foods with whey I would build muscle without adding fat??? In that case why eat whole foods at all?!

Stop being obtuse. I said that protein shakes in addition to a good diet will help you grow.

Keep the fish oil up. As a health supp it is an essential. Plenty of studies on the benefits to your whole health, not just for BB reasons. I recomend going over to T-nation or googling "t-nation" and "fish oil". there was agreat article on the many benefits of supplementing with fish oil. I still don't yet but really think I should start. I'm not a supp junkie by any means, as I think most are overated and unecessary but I think i'm missing out by not using fish oil.
