Fat Loss Competition

It's not about winning any prizes - other than that wonderful feeling of success when you know you've acheived something great for yourself, and your self-esteem.
PLEASE NOTE: That this thread is a list of the competition rules & guidelines only (therefore it will remain locked/closed). To discuss each of the 3-different competitions/ progess made/ or ask a question... then please kindly post into this seperate thread here.Quote
Judges to be the lovely MP folks (i.e. NOT judged by Moderators or by Forum Members, therefore keeping things impartial, and this way every gets to enter inc. Mods too). MP may then award prizes (if they wish) at the end of the 12 week competition-period (prizes to be as MP see fit/ they decide).
GENERAL RULES
(1) The competition duration (per entrant) is 12 weeks only.
(2) There is a strict 2-week "Starting-Window" for your start-date of: Sunday 25th January to Satruday 7th February 2009.
(3) Your entry (with your start-photos - see PHOTOS RULES below) must be submitted & live on the forum between 25th January and 7th February.
(4) Decide which category you wish to enter:
- 'Fat Loss' Competition... most improved body-fat level (judged from still photos).
- 'Body Transformation' Competition... most improved physique (judged from still photos)
- 'Strength Improvement' Competition Entry... most improved lift-strength (judged from video)
(5) Competitors may enter 2-competitions if they wish:
- You may, if you choose enter the 'Fat Loss' Competition + the 'Strength Improvement' Competition.
- Or the 'Body Transformation' Competition + the 'Strength Improvement' Competition.
- As they are far too similar in their goals (being aesthetically focused) you may NOT enter both the 'Fat Loss' and the 'Body Transformation' Competitions at the same time (but don't worry we'll run another forum competition maybe starting in May... ready to get beach ready - so you can always wait for next time!).
(6) To submit an entry start a new thread in the Members Picture sub-forum
Give the new thread a title in the following format:
- Fat Loss Competition Entry: USERNAME, START-DATE: XX-MONTH
- Clearly state your goals - E.g. to loose 10lbs of fat, get down from 18% to 12% body fat level.
- Clearly give your measurements (see below for details).
(7) Open to all forum members who have made 20 or more posts (excluding any posts made in the 'Off Topic'/ 'FAO' Sections).
(8) Ideally nothing other than the pics/stats/goals should be put into your entry-threads please, try to keep all talk is kept in the relevant discussion thread for the competition/s.

PHOTO POSES - Fat Loss Competition
DON'T FORGET IF YOU'RE SHY TO CROP/CUT YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR PHOTOS!
For your 12 week fat loss take photos of yourself (beginning and end). You can also take half-way point pics if you fancy (half-way is optional).
No flexing, tensing, sucking in, or lighting manipulation is allowed!
Standing normally, take 3-mandatory (compulsory) photos of yourself:
(1) Front Relaxed
(2) Side Relaxed (Must show your legs too)
(3) Back Double-Biceps
(4) Optional: Abdominals & Thigh - Tensed (this is one if you are feeling brave!)

MEASUREMENTS
Measure yourself using a fabric tape measure. These can be picked up for a few quid in sewing/fabric section of dept. stores, or your local Supermarket. The MyoTape by Accu-Measure is also good.
Measure (unflexed/untensed):
- Around the largest part of your belly/love-handle area
- Upper leg (thigh)
- Lower leg (calf)
- Men - Chest: Across nipple line
- Ladies - Chest (measure over breasts and again just below)
- Between belly button and nipple line (upper abs area)
- Shoulders (one complete revolution with the tape around the outside of your shoulders)
- Upper arm
- Neck
Type these numbers, along with your weight & height into your entry-thread.Quote
WEIGHING YOURSELF ON SCALES
The numbers on the scale don't actually tell us that much. After all, if you lose five pounds of fat and replace it with five pounds of muscle, the scale won't show any changes, yet that flip-flop in body composition will make a dramatic visual difference. Still, it's helpful to know your body weight.
Weigh before you start your fatloss diet, and again at the end of the competition. (You can keep tabs in between - ideally on the same morning each week.)
Guidelines:
* Use the same weighing-scales every time. Make sure it's placed in the same spot too. If battery operated, make sure it has fresh batteries.
* Weigh right after waking, before eating or drinking, after a bathroom trip. This will insure consistency.
* Do not weight more than once per week! Natural daily fluctuations will drive you bonkers LOLQuote
PHOTO TIPS
Keep things consistent for your start/end photos....
(1) Keep the room/location/background wall the same.
(2) Keep the lighting the same (e.g. always daylight, or always artifical lights)
(3) Stay the same approximate distance from the camera each time.
(4) Use the same camera - switching around might affect the results.
(5) Feeling flashy?... If you did (or didn't) use the flash at the start - then keep it the same for the end-photos please.
(6) Wear the same garments each time - so the same shorts/briefs/bikini at the start/end photos please (BOYS for the still-photos please wear black/navy/ dark grey underwear - we don't want "junior" on show please! GIRLS if you're planning on wearing a bikini please check for nippl-age/ bikini-line embarrassment before you upload your pics)
(7) In order to verify the date you started/ended one of your photos must show you holding a copy of that day's newspaper (national/local is fine)Quote
If I start on XYZ-date... when do I finish then?
Please see table below for clarity of your start/end dates
Therefore... your end-date is the date that you must take & post-up your finish-photos please.
NB: If you started your transformation on 27th January & took your photos on 27th... you are allowed to post up your new thread/entry a one or two days later (that's okay!).
