bicep boys-men who do chest and arms every time they're in the gym
people who psyche them selves up to do 10rep flyes with 8kg db's
Guys,
just wondering what your experiences/opinions are on stereotypes that visit the gym
Examples:
The big guys who walk around like mindless gorillas;
They seem to be in the gym at any given time of the day.
Are they big cos they're on gear and do they sell gear, thus meaning they don't need a real job, that's why they're always at the gym?
Or are they big, cos they have a job that allows them to train whenever they like?
The guys who train in 3's,
lift weights beyond their limit, then drop them from any height once their set is finished, in some form of bravado ritual, resulting in knackered/wobbly dbells and near broken toes.
These are the 2 stereotypes that i ponder about the most. I'm interest in the bug guys stereotype, as in what really is their deal.
The guys in 3's i just wish they'd go train elsewhere.
There are an abundance of both in my gym.
What's your opinions? (without getting too serious, lets keep it a little lighthearted please)

People who turn up to the gym with gel in their hair, who avoid working up a sweat to maintain their hairstyle!

ahaa....but are these stereotypes or just "pet hates in the gym"?
I suppose they could be as every gym will have the people you have all described, lol.
Has anyone got the kahunas to admit to being any of these stereotypes?
For the record, i just exemplify the invisible guy who trains quick, hard and gets the hell out of there. Don't have time for chit chat as i only get a 30min workout in my lunch hour.
i train in a 3 sometimes... what's wrong with that?
i fall in the big guy stereo type.. without being big.. i just turn up at my gym whenever i please cos i know the guys that work/train there and we have a good crack on. but people have often confused me with staff. i turn upto the gym with gelled hair but that is because i like to look nice/feel nice at school and i train straight after so... and my hair gets annoying when training (gel in eyes etc) but i dont care about sweating.. im shaving my head soon anyway
Training as a 3 i think, although very leisurely, is not the way to work out. You get a very comfortable 5 minutes between sets (not inc chin wag time), a session takes twice as long to do half the work. You leave feeling like you have F.A and have been the baine of everyones life because it takes forever on any piece of equiptment.
I did it once, never again.
Two's is ok if you keep motivated and dont lose focus,
On your own is best, just you, the weights and a stopwatch.
I disagree... If you keep chatting to a minimum you can get a good workout. You just need to find the right people. It's only my leg day where I train as a 3. It's either that or train alone and that's just too risky when you're attempting to squat almost double your bodyweight.
Oh and for me, the worse stereotype, going to a uni gym, is f***** rugby players. I dont object to rugby, or training hard. But walking round the gym with rugby socks on, short shorts and generic rugby uni boy hair, looking down on everyone who isnt a fat **** make me angry!!!!
I train with my hair done, call me vain but I don't ever want to look a mess, if I'm out the house I'll do my hair. Doesn't stop me training hard nor do I stop doing something cos it might 'mess my hair'. Yes I sweat, no it doesn't run.
