I was using an excel spreadsheet at one point because you can print off blanks for your workout then just pensil in the numbers.

Awesome piece of software, pretty much caters for everything you could need tbh. I've been using it for about a month now and it has helped no end.

I keep a diary. sometimes i write what I do straight in. Other times I just take some paper and copy it in the diary later. I've got 5 year diaries worth of notes on workouts. Right from when I started. It's good to see how I shouldn't train in the future! But also good to see what worked.

Planning book like you used to have at school. Nice size, resilient, cheap, easy to write in. Transfer later to excel if you want something more presentable.

Is there really any need for a notepad?

the only exersizes that really matter are the compounds and it's pretty easy to remember what you lift from week to week.

    Just my opinion...

my training partner is a small book, I walk around the gym with a book and a pen. I have a rubbish memory when it comes to the gym for some reason so I stick with this. its good as well because I always have something to try and beat, even if its only a rep or 2
