If I lived in an area ripe with snakes that could carry me up tree, or even walked through such areas I'd make sure I carried some kind of hunting knife. No biting snakes for ol' HBK.
i'd let it swallow me and fight my way out from the inside.... to be fair if it pinned your arms you'd be screwed, i've felt the coiling strength of 6ft python and it is pretty damn scary.

I suspect that story has been exagerrated in the telling. A 13 foot snake couldn't pull a man into a tree, let alone eat him. (A large python can kill by constriction, so I don't doubt he had a bit of a struggle, but even a 20 footer isn't going to be able to swallow you).
