Give it 50 years and he'll be England's answer to Ned Kelly. Killing or seriously injuring a few people won't mean much then. The boring bit (ie. the lives he ruined) will get forgotten, in favour of the story of the brave outlaw who evaded police and lived and died by his own rules. You can almost see the film poster.

Most Hollywood "biopics" are about bank robbers, gangsters, revolutionaries or in other words murderers of one sort or another, and that doesn't stop them being seen as heroes.

I'm not saying its right, just saying its how it is.

    Agreed.
There seems to have been very little media coverage about the man he murdered in cold blood. Why is that? Think of all the people's lives he's affected/ruined because they'll never see their loved one again.
The policeman he blinded....whilst still alive, he'll never see his loved ones again either.

The ****** deserves an unmarked grave and his 'followers' can burn in hell for all i care too.

He's by no means a hero and quite clearly is in the best place for him now.

    Dystopia.... here we come.

I think the Moat supporters have almost 'romanticised' this idea of Moat evading capture as some kind of "Geordie Rambo" using Ray Mears style bush craft to live of the land in the face of adversity.

Moat was an underdog, hunted down by hundreds of armed officers in the biggest man hunt seen in decades, and despite all of the polices resources he evaded capture for 7 days. People tend to cheer the underdog and this was a classic "David and Goliath".

This is the part of the story which I believe the sympathisers have focused on. The truth is of course is that he was a cold blooded murderer, but people are quick to forget that. If the crime he had committed was something something along the lines of threating a parking warden and then evading capture, I think his 'hero' status would have some credibility.

I did actually have a look at the facebook page.

Whilst some were 'supporters' of Moat there were many saying what a *!%^$ (fill in your own choice of words for a Berkely Hunt etc) he was. But it seems if you want to leave a comment on a facebook page like that you have to 'like' it first. It needs an 'unlike' button too.

Anyway that page has been taken down now thank god

Regarding charles de menezes, that was an accident, what raoul moat did was deliberate and calculated.

EDIT: Comanight slipped in there with essentially the same thing.
7 bullets in the head is far from an accident. It's murder, simple as...

I have love for the army, no doubt...but what they're doing over there is wrong. The reasons etc.

Every developed country has had it's own internal struggle and been better off for it...not perfect but better off.
