Of course, we cannot use the term fat anymore.

This may have been covered, but I cannot believe they are considering free surgery for large people, to help them lose weight. Why have we become so lazy as a nation???!

What do the people who slog it out 3 times or more at the gym get for free to balance it out?..........

What i found rediculous was some plastic surgery company advertising on T.V about liposuction and their other practices. Its rediculous. Forgotten their name now, saw it a few days ago.

A healthier body, healthier mind and a better lifestyle. Something others miss out on, but consider that not all peoples weight problems are caused because they are lazy as that is incredibly ignorant. Such name calling does not help anyone and instead discourages those who MAY or MAY NOT deserve the surgery from bettering themselves physically and in many cases mentally too.

I don't perticularly agree with it, but then again this is going on the assumption that it's going to be available to the masses and not to rare cases. I'm just thankful that I am not one who has to go through the surgery and can lead a healthy life.

    i agree with Asauka
very ignorant assuming people have become lazy, some people have disabilities that causes difficulties to exercise (well hardly any physical activities), causes them to put on weight. Should they not be allowed this?

but then there are people I know who are actually lazy who "can't be assed" to go gym/exercise, now they do not deserve it, but they will get it if they get "bigger" as it will be classed as a health risk!

(and I know first hand about certain disabilities causing problems in weight, as a family member has had difficulties, they actually want to get in the gym and do stuff, but their bodies limit them to what they do!)

In addition to insulting people, you are missing the point.

Its not I suspect, a case of getting something for free. Its that a stomach staple now is cheaper than heart transplant/cancer drugs/diabetic medication for life.... in future. When you average it out across the population as a whole. Its about saving money, I suspect.

The interesting point that raises of course is that it may encourage people to get fat, knowing the state will bail them out.

You know I didn't even consider the money side of things.

With regards the second part of your post it may make people less wary of putting on weight but if they do and have it removed it doesn't make their organs or that any healthier, does it? Might help relieve a few symptoms but overall they're still punishing their internal organs I feel. People will always be encouraged to eat healthy and exercise regardless, what needs to be done is more ready information.

    Absolutely.

Also, get some people who can actually give advice out. I think I've said this before ages ago, but anyway...even more ages ago I once went to see an NHS dietatician about losing weight. She told me, and this is no exaggeration or lie, to "fill up on bread, potatoes and pasta".

The scale of how truly bad this advice was is hard to explain.

Thats pretty appaling. I dont like it when doctors give advice out about food. They arent (usually) properly qualified to give out any advice. Thats what nutritionists and dieticians are for. Perhaps even the dieticians are idiots! Bet they still use the whole food pyramid system.

The government should really look at the state of the "professionals" that it is hiring. A lot of peoples' health problems are down to their poor diet and i just wise that the government/NHS would address it rather than completely bypass it and toss drugs at us.
