Have to say as much as a I appreciate you would want justice as well (I felt the same when we got burgled whilst my mum was asleep £25k stolen in one night) If you do do anything , you will probably come off worse as it will be seen as pre-meditated (unless you can be very sneaky and careful about how its done)

And a coward who will steal would defintiley take you to court and probably sue you too. Sad state of affairs but unfortunately you see it quite a lot these days.
Its unbelievable how low people stoop these days, yeah I know will be very careful if I find them.
Always heard about it but never thought it would happen to me especially since I work in Communication security.

When those "I'm a Nigerian prince..." emails first came out I found it funny that an ex chief of police from Scotland yard had got stung.

On a related note this is hilariousMultiplying money? It

I still laugh today at the thought of this guy being shown his £15,000 being sprinkled with "black Dust" wrapped in foil, then a towel, then burried under a rock in the sand. And him thinking "this time tomorrow I'll be rich" or going to the bank "I'd like £15,00 please. Some strangers know some magic and they are going to make me rich "

Who says us cypriots cant be entertaining. haha

When you go shopping anywhere and hand a card over just ensure it doesn't leave your sight. Ideally you should not be handing the card over to them at all. If they request the card, you should really refuse and ask for the pin machine. At the end of the day if the card leaves your sight then it is advised that you speak to the manager, or at worst case you have the right to call the police.

Obviously you can still get stung if they are copying the details from the pin machine.

Do you know how they were accessing your account? Online banking? ATM? Customer not present fraud?

Out of interest, which bank was that with? I'm with Natwest, and you cannot make a transfer to any account that is not your own without having to go through extra verification with a keypad they give out to all their customers. It's also more difficult for keyloggers to grab your login credentials because they ask you for 3 digits of your pin, and 3 characters of your password.

Sadly, many firms don't take fraud and security seriously enough. I remember when I was brought in as a consultant for a major mobile phone operator and I pointed out that their software as currently designed left them open to fraud by their call centre staff because they could see in clear text the full password of each account they were accessing. My concerns were swept under the carpet. They got stung a few years a later when it was uncovered that some people in their callcentre had indeed been using calling in as customers with credentials they had got when they were at work.

Are you sure you didn't enter you details on a fake Halifax website? I just used it and it still has the drop down boxes...
