I had this a couple of weeks ago, really bad. I made the mistake of deciding to rest and laze about. The next week it came back but I was in Bournemouth doing a lot of walking about. It was much better this time. Not sure if the moving about helped but I am convinced it did.
My squat is not good at the moment due to the dynamic hip screw I had inserted into my hip, but I am increasing the weight now hence the bad DOMS, and my routine now gets me doing 5 sets. Still, it is just all part of the cause so I just put up with it.
Looks gruesome doesn't it. When it is removed I hope to keep it to show people! Not as though they can reuse it so I might as well have it.
It was painful at first but you get used to it being there. Now I just get twinges here and there. Unfortunately having the DHS in there means that I will need a hip replacement between 5 & 10 years after it was inserted - so between 3 and 7 years from today, hence seeing if I can keep it!
My shoulder is bad as well. the clavicle was severly fractured and hasn't quite knitted together properly. Surprisingly I don't have problems with lifting but I have to be very careful when moving up weights. My numbers are low but rising. The only problem exercise I have is with dips, because I can feel it pull on the bone a bit, but hopefully I can improve that!
what happened?
I'm surprised they are removing the pins, I thought they normally stayed put?
I had a motorcycle crash in September 2009. Injuries were:
Fractured right femur head (hence the dynamic hip screw)
Severely fractured left clavicle
12 rib fractures on left side.
minor hairline fractures on parts of spine. This is where the muscle holds onto it (apparently), and bits of the muscle were torn away - not that i noticed.
Deflated left lung - basically deflates itself to protect itself from the damage done.
Apparently the dynamic hip screw is temporary because the bone deteriorates around it hence eventually needing a hip replacement.
All in all not too bad. Spent 3 days in intensive care, 10 days on the ward, and 2 months off work. The doctors and nurses were surprised by how quick I recovered because they were convinced I was going to be there for months!
considering the injuries that does sound like a fast recovery!
