I want to get my compound techniques in order and increase my flexibility, as I have been told this is what is holding me back from doing the compound exercises correctly.

I will book four or five lessons with a personal trainer from now until the end of the end of the semester. I am currently a member of QUB PEC.

Goals for 8rep squat, deadlift and bench press of my own body weight by May.

If money is an issue, you might want to consider joining beginners yoga classes at PEC (if they have them). Sure you lose some man points, but for general flexibility it is a good thing. There are also some online flexibility routines you might want to consider but I'm damned if I can remember the name (something 8).

Personal training to get your form right on compound lifts is not a bad thing, but choosing a personal trainer can be hard as you will want one who is serious about lifting if you are going to get quality advice. I looked to see if I could find a barbell club with open sessions, the only one I could find was "Shankill Barbell Club", but the website hasn't got much further information.

I was talking about spending maybe 80-100 pounds on four/five sessions over 3 months. The PEC sessions are £30 which is more than a bit pricey. I've tried doing it myself since I was 17, and failed, so I think a PT is the answer.

Good shout on the yoga. Loss of man points is out weighted by getting huge

For the lifts, have you thought of posting some form videos on here?

I'm not even at that stage yet. I can't get even a 90 degree squat. I'm still doing wall squats at the moment.

Lascek has a few mobility drills on 70's big, I think there is a site called mobility WOD will be worth checking, also have you read starting strength, this book may be better than any personal trainer on how to lift. do you shove your knees out when you squat?
