    Morning people,

I've recently started squatting and I've noticed on my heavier sets that my knees seem to pull together/turn in slightly (only way I can think of describing it). Is this a poor form thing or is it due to the fact I haven't squatted in years?

I always go through a perfect rep in my head before a set to help me focus and make a conscious effort to keep the form spot on.

    Cheers

    Nick

Knees moving in or out is weak ad/abductors so use the good girl - bad girl machine and it will go away. If your gym has not got one you can train the ad/abductors on the low cable.

Focus on pushing your knees out, and pushing the floor apart with your feet on the way down AND on the way up. This should engage the glute medius, which will in turn stop your knees caving in.

Soz dude, but that is just plain bad advice.

It certainly is not normal to squat knock-knee'd, and over time can lead to weak medial ligaments in the knees. This will possibly lead to a pretty much permanent state of knock knees (genu valgum), and put simply, f**k your knees up chronically and possibly acutely. If your lucky, your knees may fail in a spectacular way like a complete medial ligament and medial meniscus blowout under a few hundred pounds barbell.
