I'm after some advice on the Westside For Skinny *******s programme and would like to pop into a gym to be able to speak to someone face to face about my needs etc. I want to be able to do a program like this to get up from 74kg to around 78-80kg but build a lot of strength rather than any needless bulk.

Basically this is because i want to compete in MMA within the next 6-12 months and am currently right bang in the middle of the 70kg and 77kg weight classes at amateur level. I'm around 9-10% body fat already so don't really want to lose muscle mass to get down to 70 as i need to get stronger anyway.

Do you guys know of any gyms in the Birmingham area, preferably central, that could help me out?

The program is from this link:

    Cheers

Yeah the event i'm looking at entering is 70 and 77. It's called AMMA and they've got an event at Villa Park on Nov 17th. Which events use the 75kg class?

Kidderminster could be a little bit further than i wanted to travel as i've gotta wedge the sessions in between uni and work. I'm gonna be living in student accommodation just off Broad Street.

I'm intrigued by strongman style lifting too, wouldn't mind checking that out.

Cheers will check them out, only 2 miles from my residence too!

Rab, i'm not doubting that at all but surely you can understand that if i wanted to be a body builder i wouldn;t go to a power lifting gym, and vice versa!

I can already use Stevie B's in A****s Green when i want but it's a train ride away.

i think theres a gym on soho road, aint been to it but my friend whos about to compete in bodybuilding goes there. apparently its really cheap.

you pay £2 ish for a day pass and you can pop in as many times as you want in that day.

theres a mma gym in kings norton another one of my friend goes to. no idea whereabouts and the times tho.

What's his name? A mate of mine trains in King's Norton too, it's called F's Freestyle and is right next to ironworks gym. Probably the same place!
