Just wondering if anyone else experiences this?

Basically, when my training is going well, my squats are going well. If my overall training is going badly, my squats are usually bad. It all seems to pivot on this.

My back niggles are usually in much better shape too if squatting is going well.

Anyway, does anyone else experience this, or have a crucial lift that seems to determine overall strength?

You may need to read my thread on Anabolic Priming. I'm going to use your code, and hope to get a free session

I think you're right mate. Progress with squats is a good indicator that things are going well.

For me when my kickbacks and flyes are going up I know I'm getting huge.

No really I suppose when the squat goes up the dead lift goes up and vice versa. It makes sense considering these two are whole body lifts that easier compounds go up in tandem.

I find one of my lifts out of the big 3 go up at a time, unless I'm on cycle then all 3 go up (what a suprise).

oh yeah i find that as well, I went like 4 weeks without the bench press and I couldn't improve the strength of my back or biceps

A 400m sprinter at my gym benched for the first time in about 5 years at the Crystal Palace gym last week - he basically said he hadn't benched since he was a kid. Within 3 sets, he got a 1RM of 130kg! He was very lean, and probably weighed about 90kg. The only way i could possibly explain this was that the neuromuscularly explosive, fast twitch fibre training he does on his lower body is having a carry-over effect to the rest of his body. So i think that high intensity compound lower body training probably does have an effect on overall strength.

It's cool that other people experience this too.

As far as I am aware, squats trigger greater hormone release than any other lift, which must increase overall strength. Please correct me if I am wrong though - I don't read up that much on Sports Science.
