    Sumo doesn't count :P

Seriously though, great lifting mate. I'll have to have a pop at something similar soon as my rep strength on deads is pretty dismal!

Good lifting fletch - out of curiosity, do you find the wider stance helps you get more weight? Have never tried dead's quite as wide as that...

sumo enables more weight for reps but at your close 1rm the conventional stance is better for maximum weight lifting.
Some people have to sumo, just cant lift conventional.

not sure really, iv never really gone heavy on conventional so i dont know. I lift sumo because my flexibility is not good enough for conventional.

Its a case of personal preference, alot of people i know that have tried sumo find it much much harder and will always do conventional, i seem to be the only one out of people iv met who find it easier for some reason.

Interesting... I'll probably give these a try. I get on quite well with regular dead's and also love romanians as I'm now really finding sweet technique on them after a few weeks of trying. Another deadlift variation to add to the arsenal would be great

As max said, i find Sumo more comfortable and certainly has a smaller rom, but i need to go conventional for big singles to really bring my legs into play.

    Good lifting fletch.

    Great stuff Fletch.

Just noticed from the link referenced at the end of that video that apparently the current British deadlift record is 232.5kg @ 75kg.

Does this still stand? I currently weigh 70kg and I believe I currently could lift very close to 200kg entirely raw.

I reckon I could break this record within 6-12 months, perhaps I should look into competing...!
