apparantly he could squat 230kg, and power clean 150kg at 75kg bodyweight

he looked like a marathon runner though, how was he able to lift that much weight without inducing muscular hypotrophy?

I heard similar stats about Chris Hoy the olympic cyclist...Im doubting Jonathan Edwards doin that...but Chris Hoy is a differemet matter....

However it is possible...but all the cardio work he would have to do would probably keep the ammount of muscle build down.

Why would you doubt Edwards when his event was arguably more explosive than Chris Hoy's. I think Edwards PB for 100m would have got him into the final at 1992 Olympic games, and he could do the 60m sprint in 6.something.

    lol.

Actually the Edwards clean and jerk may have a small element of truth invloved.

I remember some of the olympic lifters talking about him training in Manchester a few years ago. He as fairly strong for his weight. Maybe not quite what is claimed but he wasn't bad.

I find the 230 squat hard to believe, the 150kg clean is more believable given its all about explosive power / technique which I'm sure he'd have plenty of.

In fact check out this from an interview he did (care of google ):

Q: "When you trained you were known for lifting huge weights. How much can you squat? "

A: "I never used to squat. But I was very good at lifting and especially the clean and jerk. I could clean double my bodyweight; my best was 150kg at 75kg bodyweight."

If he lifted often I dont see why he couldnt hit a 150 clean

Is 230kg really that heavy for an elite athlete? Sounds pretty realistic considering his calibre, even if he didn't actually do it.
Using this code with your first order will make you a ripped machine. Use with the up most of care!
