I dont think 290 is too unreasonable, although you would need to do a bit more work with heavy doubles and triples before I would attempt it.
That sounds spot on, I have just switched to doing triples and I did 3x200Kg with a 1RM around 240.

Any advice from you strong deadlifters on the best way to increase the dead? Its not my biggest concern but i really want to break 2 x bw. I do speed deads on Wednesday and max on Friday. Are there any set and rep combinations that seem to work better for you?

Ive been doing them for about 2 weeks now and really like them! I avoided them previously as i just wasnt convinced my form was ever right.

5x5 got me up to 225kg, sheiko got me up to 235kg. After thinking about progress made vs time taken (though I had suffered a lot in the health department for months) , I've decided to go back to 5x5 to see how it goes.

Edit: I believe that heavy good-mornings helped a lot, especially with my squat.

Perhaps deadlift heavy less if you're going speed every week and heavy aswell every week? That's what took mine up. More heavy GM's, RDL's and heavy box squats.

Martin, how low should a box squat be?

    Depends how tall you are!

I normally squat to where I need to be in comp - which is around 14 inches high for me.

Occasionally we will use a 12.5 inch box and sometime a 15.5inch box. Doesnt matter that much TBH. Even high boxes are useful for the deadlift as hip position during deads is normally high.
