I've been squatting around 100kg and have been told that I am going too low. Is this okay or shall I try and not go as low.

how low have you being going? there is no such thing as too low. Ever heard of the ass to grass squat(a2g)??

There is a lot of misinfomation out there that going to parallel or beyond is dangerous for the knees. It's quite the opposite, stopping before parraallel is whats dangerous for the knees as it puts etra pressure on them.

Competion powerlifters have to acheive parrallel as an absolute minimum otherwise the lift does not count.

I've been going as low as possible and they feel good. He did actually say I was balls to the grass.

I agree with Dave, for the most part ass-to-grass squats are what you want. What was the justification for this guy telling you its 'too low' (i.e discouraging you from doing it)?

Cheers folks. I'll stick with the ass to the grass, it's not as if my **** is touching the floor or anything. Next time I see him I'll ask what the benfits are of not going as low.

who told you by the way? Gyms are usually full of "advice guys" - you just have to smile, nod and then ignore. You'll never get them to bog off unless you can stomache being rude/mean to them. I'm too nice - luckily not many Advice guys train at 7:30am
