So thinking about squatting safely with only one useable arm... I'm trying to fighue out a way of adding weight, without being lopsided. The only thing I can think of is by having someone help me load up with a backpack holding weight plates, and maybe hugging a plate in front as well. Thing is that I don't know if I've an old bag big or strong enough.

Would anyone have any suggestions? So far I've used the seated leg press and coupled that with bodyweight squats, but I'm impatient and pig-headed and can't face waiting 8 or more weeks to squat heavy again!

On a similar note, what can I do to prevent too much strength loss in the deadlift till this hand is healed?

    Thanks guys...

    Heres some ideas :

YouTube - Squat without one arm 250 kg.

YouTube - Deadlift, one arm, 200 kg.

Seriously though, one legged pistols should be good for the time being if you can them. You can then them pretty easily with putting weight in a backpack like you said.

Cheers! Pistols are a brilliant idea. Time to perfect them, methinks.

How bad am I at typing?

Heres a translation (I'll try and get this right) :

One legged pistols should be good for the time being if you can do them. You can load them pretty easily using a backpack like you said.

I treid these yesterday. I front squat on a regular basis, but with the weight resting on my fingers. Arms crossed over, I almost choked myself! I'm going to play about with this one tho. Resting on the inside of my elbows was okay, but I couln't add much weight. =\

I'm glad you mentioned front squats, cuz I completly forgot about them when trying to figure out an adapted program!
