i know the difference in the actual exercise, high bar-the bar rests higher up on your shoulders and you stand up straighter and low bar-bar rests lower down the back and you lean forward slightly, i don't understand what difference this will make to your actual exercise.
the bar still moves in a similar line everything is still in Equilibrium. the weight is still pushing down towards your heels.

    anyone help me out here?

    thanks

Lower bar position means the bar is closer to your centre of gravity making you more stable. You will be stronger with a low bar!

High bar is useful if you need to keep more upright, for example if you are an olympic lifter and you need to do a lot of OH squats or fronts.

It does hurt to get used to. Really squeeze your scapulae together and it should make a little ledge. You could try gripping the bar wider.

It doesnt hurt me but I find it very difficult to keep the bar there and for it to not fall off my back. I guess I need to lean forward more!

Some of the guys I see doing low bar dont grip the bar when they do the squat. They push their hands on the weight plates. Never really tried low bar squatting before.

The more flexible your shoulders are, the closer you can grip. Check out oly lifters.

I found I was struggling with high bar so started doing low bar squats and they feel so much more comfortable for me. I found really squeezing my shoulders together keeps the bar in place
