The deadlift is a lift dependant on what you wish to use it for. BBer's keep legs straighter as they use it to build the back.
For moving the most weight from the floor get your hips nice and low, and essentially just stand up. Too many people rely on their back for the deadlift, and you bypass the strongest muscles in your body.
I disagree on James with this one. The lower you get, the straighter your back is to the vertical. i.e the lower you get -> the more stable the pulling position becomes. Of course going too low like you are about to snatch shifts nearly all the weight to your hamstrings which means the weight you can move drops
I place myself off balance when deadlifting. My thighs are nearly parallel to the floor when I pull. If I let go of the bar I would fall backwards. This also allows perfect drive through the heels. What I see when most people deadlift is people hunching over the bar. The test to see if you are stable or not is to imagine someone came up behind you and gave you a little push when you are about to pull from the floor. 90% of people would fly over the bar and through the wall.
What is funny though is some great deadlifters have atrocious technique. Take Mark Felix for instance. He does not even realise he has legs! It is painful to watch him deadlift. Still if it works for your bodytype go for it. Everyone has different leverage points. If Mark learnt to DL with a combination of his legs and back I think he could smash Magnussons' record.
I say the second one is the best.

If you lower your hips too much you will lose leverage. Look at the techniques of most top powerlifters (that pull conventional) they will generally be more hanstring/back dependant and start with their hips quite high.

You wont find many top deadlifters that actually pull from a low hipped position.

I'm with James on this, the 3rd one is the best. Is it just me or does he put the weight down in a really strange way?

Yeah you kind of just drop it on your thighs and it goes way forward from were you started.
He puts it down a long way forward because he lowers his hips so much his knees go forward. The bar has to go forward or it will hit his knees lol.
