Not sure if someone has set up a thread about this before, but I was interested to see the times that people trained... As a student I have more freedom to choose, and usually train early evening - mainly because I feel tight in the mornings and seemed to get more muscle strains whilst training earlier.

Obviously issues of convenience come into play when working full time but what are peoples' opinions on this?

My degree forces early training times for me. I also prefer training early which is handy.

Are you in Uni most days of the week? I'm in 3 days so I have quite a lot of flexibility

I am in all days of the week. ~ 4 - 6 hours of lectures/workshops/labs each day.

I like the quiet feel of the gym and the feeling that when you are on a working set that some people are still in bed being lazy lol.

Haha, fair enough. Also, i guess it depends on how busy your gym is at certain times, evening is not usually the best time to go, especially for people hogging the barbell! Although now, I'm lucky enough to train with some crazy welsh guy in his shed, we built a lifting platform this autumn.

You go to a uni gym or another local one?

I would be kicked out of the uni gym if I went in there! I go to a local strongman gym. Usually empty in the mornings and stocked full of all the kit I need. No neurile rules which uptight commercial gyms have.

Definitely a lot better to find specialised gyms, they tend to have more knowledgeable and motivated members (and staff of course), since they made the effort to find the certain gym.

Also, what time do you class as 'early?'

Depends on lectures and if i've been out the night before.
I like to train fasted sometimes so will train at 12pm, just before my first meal of the day.
Or I will train 1-2 hours after my first meal so at 3-4pm.

It's quieter at 12 than in late afternoon/evening for definite though which is great as I don't have to wait for the squat rack or anything.
    PBs - Dead-lift - 190kg x 1, Squat - 142.5kg x 3, Bench Press - 125kg x 1, OHP - 72.5kg x 5, Weighted Chins - 37.5kg + BW x 4
    2012 Goals - Dead-lift - 200kg x 4, Squat - 165kg x 5, Bench Press - 125kg x 4, OHP - 80kg x 5, Weighted Chins - 50kg + BW x 4

Yeah I usually try to avoid training the day after a night out! Usually have my sessions monday, wednesday and friday so I try avoid those days. What are the advantages of training fasted? I whack 3/4 scrambled eggs down me every morning now, can't go without them now.

Always used to be the group of about 6 people around the power rack benching that got to me! There always seems to be only one place to squat in most gyms, not ideal.
