So I'm coming to the end of my SS novice progression now i think. I've been doing SS during the basketball season where i have been playing or training 3-5 times a week and lifting 3 times a week has meant my lifts haven't gone up as they could and my LP has been maybe a little shorter than it may have been otherwise. I've been doing an advanced novice type program the past couple of weeks taking light, medium and even off days (If things really didnt feel good). Playing and squatting so much is also taking its toll on my knees (I have old man knees even though im only 20) and the weight I've gained on SS is also not helping them and dropping a bit of it would be useful as well as upping my conditioning for playing. I've got a couple more weeks left on the advanced novice progression i think but after that I'm going to switch to 531

This is what I've come up with so far for 531ing I've got no idea if its any good so some opinions etc would be helpful.

    1)
    LB Squat 531
    HB squat 3-5x10 @ 50-60%
Rollouts 2-3 x 10 (to start. will likely work up reps or sets slowly and then go to standing rollouts)

    2)
    Bench 531
Rows (kroc or barbell not sure which yet) 1 set for krocs and maybe 2-3 x 5-10 for barbell
    Box jumps 3x5
    Conditioning: sprints 20m x 10 to start.

    3) (Should i put power cleans first?)
    Deadlifts 531
    Power Cleans 5x3
    Side bends 2-3x10+
Conditioning: Farmers walks with DBs or walking with Rucksacks with bags of sand in. (25kg per bag and i've got 3. need to test it to see how many to use and how far to go)

    4)
    Press 531
    Good Mornings 3x10
    Curls 3 x whatever
Planks 30s left, front, right one after the other x 2
Conditioning: sprints 2m further than last sprint workout x 10 (will work up to 40-45m for now)

Lunges and Chins/pullups are 2 other things i was thinking about putting in. they would likely go in where the GMs are but i thought lunges might be too much leg work for in season still so i wasn't sure. If i can buy/ make some gymnastics rings chins will go in there instead of the GMs. Sets and reps will probably need altering on the assistance stuff too.

Any thoughts and suggestions etc would be great if anyone is willing

    Thanks

Have you ever considered WS4SB3? It is on the top for athletic training.
Use MP211330 for 5% off your first order!
    Goals for 2011/2012:
ATG squat: 200kg 10+ reps Deadlift: 200kg 10+ reps Log press: 100kg 10+ reps -> Win Britains' strongest junior.

I did think about it but it seems a bit too much to be doing in season and seems more suited to on off season program. Plus i just prefer the simpler approach of 531 with just the no nonsense main lift and an accessory or 2 and then conditioning if you want. you fared well on ws4sb3 didn't you?
