i used to do just stronglifts on its own, but recently joined a better gym so have added extra exercises as well as. but there lasting around two hours, before i was in the gym for no longer than an hour. ive been doing the stronglifts work out while adding exercises e.g. core twists on the pulley machine with straight arms. some heavy bag work and some explosive training with a medicine ball and some cardio afterwards, 10-20 minutes on a bike.
i know people say they shouldn't be longer than an hour?
thanks

If you think adding assistance exercises gives you a tangible benefit and you dont mind spending 2 hours in the gym and eating extra to compensate then by all means do them. But ask yourself that question objectively, are you really seeing the benefits of that extra hour's work? If yes then carry on doing them!

i dont really like to follow these rules though, i think the 45 minute rule was mainly used to sort out beginners who had crap diets and didn't train properly.
its a similar rule to eat every couple of hours, which i don't buy in the least.

What kind of volume are you doing in two hours? My issue with two hours of weights is either you're resting longer than is strictly necessary (not that it will really hurt) between exercises or your volume is likely too high.
i do stronglifts how its supposed to be with 1 minute rests between each set, then i go onto some core twists, focusing more on power and speed of the moment 3x10 i then get a 5kg medicine ball, and throw it at the ground as hard as i can, a bit like hitting a tyre with a sledge hammer 3x10 then some heavy bag round kicks straight punches and hooks etc, then 10-20 minutes of cardio on a bike. finished with some static stretches

Some people might call that strength conditioning, some people might call it http://bit.ly/qw0jWT
