I was recently advised to give the stronglifts 5x5 routine a go which I would love to try, unfortunately when I go to the gym (lunchtime) there is only one Olympic bar and it is often always being used.

Can anyone suggest a decent strength/bulking routine that I can do with Dumbbells? I have an adjustable set at home and will always have a better chance to use the ones at the gym.

    Please help me out.

    Regards,

    Richie.

putting on any bulk with dumbells wont be easy. there is also a stronglifts routine for dumbells if you do a google search. I tryed it for about 3-4 months a few years ago but its not great it comparison to a regular barbell routine.

I dont think its a gimmick. Strength building routine and not really a mass building routine maybe

    Thanks for your replies guys.

I was lucky enough to have use of the Olympic Bar today. I'll just see if i can persuade my boss to let me have an earlier lunch.

Maybe put the dumells on ebay and invest in an olympic bar and weights? Definately better in the long run.

Stronglifts isn't a gimmick. Granted, it is a modified version of Starting Strength, however both programs are proven to work. Linear progression is an excellent way of getting bigger and stronger.

    Thanks all for your replies.

As stronglifts is a 3 day split, is there anything i can be doing on the inbetween days. I know it is recommended to rest, but i do like to get away from my desk and into the gym so was thinking of doing some bodyweight exercises or cardio? I didn't want to do too much cardio though as i'm bulking up and am trying to keep my calorie in take to 3750 - 4000?

    Any suggestions?

My advice would be to spend the days your not lifting working on your mobility. I'm sure most on here that have been training a while wish they had done more mobility work from the start, I know I do.

Mobility work? I'm sure I'll kick myself when you tell me but I've had a complete mind blank, what is that exactly?
