I wanted to do oly lifting but found there arent many gyms with oly platforms, or the right kind of plates, for it. So i decided to do powerlifting stuff instead. I still like trying out the oly lifts from time to time though. High clean pulls are excellent speed work for improving deadlifts.

I feel your pain. If you're in a commercial gym it is only power C&J and the power snatch but they are worth doing. These are usually great exercises for most people to cycle in and out of their training no matter what their goals. The power generation and neuromuscular carry-over is a real bonus.

As you say at well there are a lot of the more technical movements and drills that are useful as well. The snatch squat for example is a very useful movement to incorporate for some trainees.
