Just wondered if anyone had tried this? I like to have steel cut porridge oats for breakfast, but wanted to add a bit of extra protein to hit the 30-40g of protein per meal i was aiming for.

I was thinking of simply shaking up some whey isolate with milk and then leaving it in with the oats to soak overnight, to eat in the morning, i usually heat by microwaving but could use a saucepan on the hob i guess. Does anybody see a reason why this wouldnt work?

    Many thanks.

    I have it everyday.

Pour oats into bowl, boil kettle, pur boiling water over oats, leave 5 mins for oats to soak up water, add protein powder and mix.

I personally use a UK based branded supplement companies cocnout flavour. I have tried other flavours and it doesn't taste nearly as good. The coconut makes it creamy, so it's as if you are using milk.

I often have this too. Also, I often have grounded or fine oats in a protein shake.

    You called?

I have porridge with protein daily. Oats, milk (coconut, almond, oat or rice), tsp coffee & cacao and simmer slowly on hob. Leave to stand for 3-5 minutes then add in scoop protein. Mix well, add toppings and enjoy!

Can you tell I love porridge?

I do like a change sometimes though and make amazing pancakes...

I just chuck the whey and oats in a suacepan with cold water and stir until it's done. Lovely.

I added whey prior to cooking before and was left with something resembling the consistency of chewing gum - not good! I'd definitely add at the end.

Curses I remember seeing these pictures on your blog JAG, making me hungry when I shouldn't be yet!

You certainly know how to make presentable food!
