This is something that i will be trialling for myself when i become a proper adult and live on my own 2 feet (currently looking for an abode now) and i cant wait to see how little i can spend because im such a penny pincher! I enjoy being able to spend alot of money on things i want and minimal amounts on things i dont want and simple necessities.

An absolute inspiration is a programme on 4OD (i think it was,99% sure.) its called: Penny pinching britain.

One lady on there has a rather unhealthy obsession with coupons and deals. One of her shops was £66ish and she used so many coupons and deals that she only had to pay £5 for a £60 shop!!!! Now she seriously does have an issue when it comes to saving but surely......if shes making that sort of saving? why aren't we all doing it?

Then theres a young asian couple that dont spend any money on entertainment etc, often opting to take there child to the park rather than anywhere that costs, which IMO makes perfect sense and should be encouraged. When they grocery shop, the bloke goes round with his iphone which has a comparison barcode scanner application. They scan every item (some they knew were cheaper because they do this daily) to ensure they are getting the best deal and if they arent they will take it off the asda list (for example) and add it to the sainsburies list etc.

NOW HERES ONE FOR YOU MEAT EATERS!!!! TAKE NOTE!
One guy serves up a BBQ for all his mates with quite expensive meat: Rabbit, Deer, Partridge, Squirrel etc etc...........with a twist.

    ITS ALL ROADKILL!!!!

yes, he trawls the roads around where he lives in search of roadkill and then assess's whether its edible or not (rigormortis and mould are actually good for some types of meat i.e game.) He'll then prepare it appropriately and store/eat it.
His fridge was rammed to the rafters of different types of meat.

Get watching it guys its really good. I'd link it to you because im not sure exactly of the name (i watched it a few weeks ago) and im not sure whether i can post links when i have such a low post count.

Anyway, ill be paying attention to this post and posting a few tips of my own when the time comes to it.

for your tins of salmon, cook up some rice and pea's (green veg) and mix it all together with some mayo, cheap big dinner would probably make 2 meals from one tin.
I may not be there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday.

There's a TV show in the USA called "Extreme Couponing", very often they take $1000+ shopping lists to $5-10; sometimes the supermarkets even owe them money. They usually donate what they don't need to charities.

yeah she manages to get completely free food which is insane!!! I'd never heard about it before.....4 loaves of bread one half off and the coupon giving half price off the 'original price' of the bread which in turn means the bread is completely free because the 2 deals work in conjunction.

I know supermarkets have took precautions towards this by only allowing one coupon per transaction (or something along these lines, i dont shop yet so i dont know completely) but still people manage to get multiple in trips. I'd love to know how its done.

Beans on toast for breckie is a cheap one, a bit carb heavy but it will give you the energy to get through the day. Like everyone says, eggs, tuna, frozen mixed veg and frozen meats are cheap, healthy and tasy.
