So..I have lost my job, may further employment, however, so poorly paid, I have approx £30-40 per month to spend on food.

Any ideas? I thought about bulk buying frozen meats and veg in budget supermarkets. Trying to lose bodyfat, and generally carbs are sooo much cheaper to make you not feel hunger, for little cost!

    Argh!

fish would the cheapest option i think? Tuna and suchlike, then just pad the rest out as best you can...

Uhh... Since your a girl i'm going to assume this might be a bad suggestion but if you live in a rural area you could probably catch some extra protein.....

I actually have about 10 tins of salmon in my cupboard and do not know what to do with them! Today for lunch, I am eating 1 can of it, and left over pasta and pesto from last night!

I live in a town, but not a million miles away from the sea. But theres not much chance of me catching a fish ;-) though I am composting my old veg/cuttings and intend to grow some stuff! The recession is so bad in my town..even macdonalds has shut down (they couldnt afford a refurb!) :-0

MacDonalds has shut? jings thats bad.

Well not fish, plenty of rabbits kicking about too. Also if the sea isn't too far away you can dig up kale root which is kind of like potato. haha, why couldnt you catch a fish?

I can't eat rabbit! :-0 I own a giant house rabbit, and 2 chinchillas. Though they're never going to be eaten, nor wild ones ;-)

I dont own any equipment for fishing, nor would I know how to. Plus, it would cost me a good few quid to get to the sea, I mayaswell go to the shop, unless I am going to catch about 20 fish!

Morrisons do some really cheap cuts of meat. I got some diced ox heart dirt cheap, tasted very nice too. Butchers also will probably sell you cheap cuts of meat that other people don't want. This doesn't mean they're not tasty though! A lot of top restaurants now make sure they use the whole animal rather than just the expensive cuts.

Thats an idea. Though Im a little fussy with meat, but I need to change this! I dont like liver, and dont think I could eat heart, its the thought. :S Im not really helping myself here am I!

I already started looked for the 'whoopsed' items and freezing. Adding garlic salt to cheap pork cuts etc.

My friend's ex-gf's brother supposedly only spent £10-15 per month by only shopping at FrozenFoods/Icelands. Apparently he ate lots of chicken and rice/pasta. Maybe frozen veg too?

Yep..I am definately filling up my freezer come payday! (my last 'good' payday.) Im going to the local farmfoods. I even have money of vouchers :-P

I was thinking frozen chicken, fish, steak, veg (even mushrooms, peppers and onions they do!). Its work options I may struggle more with. If I have a microwave at the new job I might get (!) I should be ok
