Hi, I've got a tub of Hurricane XS sitting here and some Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL on the way. I'm hoping someone will help me sort out how best to use this stuff.

First and foremost I'm a martial artist so I'm looking mainly for definition and extra power, I can sort out retaining my speed, but my problem is when do I take this stuff? I've read the recommended use sections but I was hoping for something abit more indepth.

I'm 19, not skinny but not built either, I do MA on wednesdays, thursdays, saturdays and sundays, I have a pathetic set of 50 lbs weights that my dad gave me, I use that at random times during the day (usually because I'm cold)

I know that's hardly anything to go on, and I'm assuming I'm going to have to change a few things around for a good result, but that is my current routine, I'm hoping some knowledgeable person will come along and give me a rough idea of what I should do.

    Thanks, Az

    welcome mate

after weight training, your body is crying out for nutrients like protein and carbs for re-fueling. this is the most importaint time for taking your protein shake. it can be used at other points in the day as a meal replacement is neccesary, but real food is better.

the creatine ethel ester (CEE), helps your body create more explosive strength and restores the energy that produces this. use cee before MA and weight training.

edit - i would also use the hurricane after MA.

with weight training, you need some sort of framework. two short sessions a week might be best for you. what days would suit and what do you have in mind?

    Cheers for the advice.

I was thinking I should space it out so I'm not feeling at 75% whenever I train, so probably mondays and saturdays. As far as what I actually do I don't count reps or sets at the moment I just put some music on and carry on till I can't, then rest for 5 minutes and repeat. I guess I should keep a log to watch any improvements.

Dumb question but there aren't any side affects to using this stuff that I should be wary of is there?

Speaking of food, what can you recommend? I'm guessing lots of chicken? I'm on a Uni students budget though.

a 30 min sesison on monday and thursdays with that program you have.

to help increase explosive power, you need to be doing squats, deadlifts, clean and press etc. i dont think you can achieve that with the weights you have at home. try and find a cheap spit and sawdust gym. they do exist.

you probably wont experience any side effects from the supplements. possibly a dodgy stomach from the hurricane if it doesnt agree with you. might take some getting used to.

have a look through the diet forum, but some good protein food sources include

    poultry
    fish
    eggs
    red meat
    game

thats the main proteins. find bulk buys. ie - i buy large bags of frozen chicken for £10.

To be honest mate your not going to get anywhere doing that, its a matter of time before you hurt yourself.

If your looking for power and definition, I would use (some already mentioned)

    Squats
    Deadlifts
    Benchpress
    Standing military press
    Pullups / chins
    Dips

Try to stick to compounds rather then isolations which will engage more muscles and probably help you more with your fighting. Do two full body sessions per week or upper body one day and lower body the other.

Supps: FOOD (and lots of it!), Whey, Maltodextrin, more food.

pretty much all been said really.

hurricane after training and anytime of the day as a meal replacement.

    cee pre training.

for my worlds prep in 2007 i did:
    trad/forms in the morning
weights in the afternoon, 4day bodypart split.

at the end of each weights session i did some power work for added air time in my jumps.

    squats
    deadlifts
    barbell rows
    dumbell press for shoulders
    chins/pull ups
    push press
    cleans
    sumo squat with dumbell twist
