Why is she so against supplements they're just food..
I know I will get jibes on this. but it is my family life.
Basically my mum (runs the house) doest like the fact that i buy suppliments. and argues until there is no breath in her.
so if you all could tell me:
1. what supplements are 100% worth the money and arent harmful...
2. reasons to take supplements so that i can explain to her why they are good etc.

she is convinced that everything from BCAA's to Creatine will have terrible effects on my body and that i will not be able to function and that i will have to go on dialisis treatment schemes(wtf?) etc.. she is also convinced that when i go to the gym people are trying to pump me with steroids.

Protein powder....unless your mum wants to supply you with 3 steaks and and 3 chicken breast every day to meet your protein requirement
Creatine....its proven and ais used by millions worldwide. thers no evidence of harmful side effects
Other than that ...fish oils and multivitamins. im sure she would be fine with them!
No offense but tell her to get a grip and that she obviously doesn't know what shes talking about.
Amino acid supplementation is simply not bad for you.
Higher protein intake is not detrimental to health far from it.
How old are you mate?
16

Fish oil, Whey and Creatine...
Reasons for - Inexpensive, stupidly good for you (fish oil), found naturally from only the finest live animals...
And as far as I'm concerned the main reason I take supplements is convenience - much easier to down a scoop or two of whey PWO than to liquidise a cow's ankle...
One salient point to make is that far from abusing your body you are nurturing it. At sixteen you could be smoking, sniffing glue, doing dope, drinking cider etc. If you are into b/bing then its a pretty safe bet that you aren't.
Next issue is that while you are down the gym looking out for positive role models etc other kids your age are hanging around street corners wasting their youth and up to no good.
Last thing to do is to set yourself a goal. Show her a picture of someone she can relate to, say, just for the sake of argument, Arnie. Tell her that's how you want to be when you're older. Remind her he was just an Austrian immigrant into the USA but by setting himself goals he become one of the best-known and most-liked people in the Western world. He also became a film star, a millionaire and the top-dog (politically speaking) of California. Leaving out the Austrian bit you could say pretty much the same for Clint Eastwood.
If she is worried by the supps question alone alone tell her you take your advice of this site and that you only buy your stuff from here and ask if if she really thinks MP would sell illegal stuff!
Failing all this just get the stuff delivered next door.
Hope this helps.
