I'm a bit confused as to the differences between a few of the different protein shakes. Whats the differences between Impact Whey Isolate and Impact Whey Protein, and Whey Protein Concentrate and Whey Protein Isolate. Is it just that the cheaper ones have slightly less protein and more carbs and fat? And what are the differences between the Impact Whey products, and Whey Protein products?

    Thanks for any help.

What is the difference between whey protein concentrate and isolate?

Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) is the purest and most concentrated form of whey protein currently available. It contains 90% or more protein and very little to no lactose and fat. WPI is also around twice the price of Whey Protein Concentrate and is only suited to athletes who are counting their grams of fat or are lactose intolerant.

Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) has anywhere between 75% and 82% protein depending upon which product you choose. As the protein level in whey protein concentrate decreases the amounts of fat and/or lactose usually increase. A good quality WPC is the perfect choice for 90% of our customers as it offers excellent low prices and a high quality protein source.

The difference between Impact and straight whey is insignificant. Slightly differing amino profiles.

Concentrate and Isolate vary a bit more.

Isolate has a low carb and fat content but more expensive. It's said also to be more biologically available and better absorbed by the body. Isolate also has no lactose which is useful if you're lactose intollerant. You'd only really go with an isolate if you were to compete and in a cutting cycle or are particually fussy.

Concentrate is still god quality, contains low amounts of fat and carbs and is better value for money.

Almost everyone will recommend impact whey concentrate for daily use.

I don't believe in him, so I'd have to go for the isolate to be honest...

Alex pretty much said it all, main use for Isolate is for people who are lactose intolerant.
