My MP ultra fine scottish oats are 9 months after its "best before date", I still have about 3kg of powder left.

Anyone know if it would be OK to use in my shakes with some whey. Smells OK and looks OK etc, but then again its only powder!

I've had old oats and they've seemed fine to me so I wouldn't worry. If on the other hand they were not kept in an airtight container of some kind then I'd be doubting their freshness.

I'd eat them. But that's not saying much.
