My gran has seen me consume my protein shake and has asked what can she take to give her a lift.

She's 70, can walk well, gets a loss of breath from time to time and suffers major arthritis in her hands, she's not on any medication.

What supp's would be best for her, especially for the arthritis, vits & fish oils to start.

I'd strongly recommend a decent amount of vitamin and fish oils in her diet, supplementing them seems wrong.

Fresh fruit/veg and oily fish are great food.

She can take a daily multi and fish oils - both are good value. The Glucosamine/MSM/Chondroitin supplement would be good for wear and tear. A calcium supplement might also help against bone loss.

Seen some research suggesting Leucine is very good at prevent loss of lean body mass in the elderly. Trying to make your Nan chug a load of BCAAs would probably amount to mistreatment of the elderly though, given how foul they taste.

I'm sure I've seen something recently (perhaps on here) about calcium deficiency in the elderly being more common nowadays so this could be a good call.

Also I personally do not know many pensioners who could afford to have a diet with a decent level of O3 so supplementing it could be a could call too. Hey even us employed people even have trouble getting a decent level of it in our diets. A lot of oldies will probably be taking a cod liver oil most days anyway so adding a cap or 2 of o3 wouldn't do much harm I'd a thought?
