Firstly, I'd like to ask which protein I should buy between Impact Whey and True Whey.

I work out 4 times a week, cardio every other day and I'm looking to pack on lean mass but initially cut (shed off fat). I've already trained for a year and just drank the protein shakes my gym sold. I'm pretty picky on taste it seems or maybe I've just tasted rubbish stuff (<Edited: Competitor product> - HORRIBLE). I'll probably pick up 3 or 4 samples with my first purchase anyway. The only shakes I have liked are my gym's protein drinks (all contain basically milk protein).

With the whey, I hope to mix it in with porridge (oats) in the morning, cereal (shredded wheat) and as a post workout shake. Any suggestions on suitable flavors etc for this? I'll probably pick up a few sample packs anyway but for my first initial purchase, I need a nice flavor.

Secondly, I need to decide if I should buy Oats from myoprotein or elsewhere? I'll be using them to make porridge. I'm thinking of making them in a shake but I have no blender. Will myoprotein's oats require a blender of any kind to consume? Do they taste okay? Whats the best tasting ones?

    Thanks!

p.s. on the protein debate, I like to natural ingredients much more if that figures into it!
my shakes will also contain water, not milk!

What is the rest of your diet like, protein such as whey is only required if your diet is lacking in protein intake, this could be due to lack of appetite etc etc. Whey isn't a magic potion, it is basically like eating a chicken breast with the exception of less nutrients and minerals - hence why food is many times better.

To answer your question however, taste is subjective and very personal thing, I personally use chocolate mint, it's superb.

    Thanks for your swift reply!

My diet is very good because I'm at home. I have a never ending supply of grilled chicken, fishes, potatoes, brown rice, brown bread, shredded wheat, peanut butter, cottage cheese, vegatables etc.
I also have tonnes of time.

However when university starts, I'll be on a budget (although a pretty healthy one) and be very short on time. Last year, I took too much time preparing meals and faffing over what I should eat/drink. If i can have a bowl of shredded wheat, toss in some whey protein and count that as a meal, I will be very very happy.

Chocolate Mint I've heard from 90% of people is amazing - supposedley like After Eights? I've heard from others its disgusting so very wierd. Would that go well in porridge though? (im actually confused with porridge because i usually eat shredded wheat or toast (wholemeal)),

Hey dude, I go for the unflavoured impact whey. Taste doesnt offend me and its cheap as! Someone on here suggested adding those coffee syrups for flavour too, which I though was a good one.

You cant really make porridge with MP oats as they are so finely ground, discovered this in my porridge phase so had to stick to supermarkets. You need a shaker and a good wrist action. I only tired the unflavoured ones and didnt get on with them, quite grainy but my old gym buddy goes through them like no tomorrow! And my brother does a mega mix with maltodextrin, milk, whey and God knows what else and loves it.

    What you studying?

I use impact whey, as I cannot afford the True Whey (to be blunt lol) TW does taste better, but IW is nice in it's own right

and if you use my code (in my sig) no matter what you take, it will be nice

thanks guys for the advice boys. i'll go with super market oats and probably true whey. i'll splash out on 5 sample packs first and the shaker etc. just to get a feel for what i want to buy.

hodi, i'm studying medicine which i heard this year will be more time consuiming. i doubt i'll have enough free hours to comfortably cook and prepare meals now.

btw im going to sound stupid probably but... can anyone reccomend me some nice supermarket oats, preferably with a scoop thing so i know how much im pouring?

for oats I used to use "Sainsburys Jumbo Oats" good priced, nice and wholesome

if you are going to add to a shake, i suggest getting MP's ones, as it is hard to get them ground that fine, I have tried, the gritty taste didn't bother me, but others it might

i bought myself a coffee grinder from amazon for £10 and buy tescos scottish oats for about £1 per kilo and blend them up in that. It doesnt get them quite as fine as MPs oats because they mill theres but it gets them alot finer than a blender did when i tryed that. I bang them in with the new chocolate smooth flavour whey and i dont even know there in there which is good as i dont like the taste of oats.
